The South

April 21st, we took a BIG trip with the family. This was fun for us, because Evan usually takes us places when he goes for work, and this time, we took an extra few days, and spent it with friends, like a real family vacation. Go us! We flew into Augusta Georgia and spent the next 4 days with Evan's high school buddy Derrick and his family. It was great for the two of them to reconnect and for us to get to know them a little better. They (rarely) get visitors (so they say) and we thought it would be great to actually see some of the South, cause I'd never been before.

We spent Easter with them and they, Becca, were the perfect hosts! Thanks guys, we had lots of fun.
Then we took yet another road trip of 7 hrs down to Orlando. We stopped at the beach-no pictures- and the boys did great!
Evan's boss put us up at the DisneyWorld Resort Hotel. This was SUPER NICE. If you're familiar with the area, that's the hotel that the monorail goes through on it's way to the park.  Since we went to DisneyLand in Feb, I wasn't going to spend the money again, or brave the park with 2 little kids, so I had a list of fun things for us to do. We didn't even need to leave the hotel. All the food was there, and entertainment, and free bus rides to Downtown Disney, which was really fun.
However, our plans took a turn when Porter woke up fussing that first night, and was pretty whiny the whole day. He wouldn't eat, and later that night, he had a fever. We basically stayed in the hotel room for 2 days while Porter was down and out sick. I was so sad to miss out on all the cool things we could have done, but very glad he wasn't sick in South Carolina with friends. What a bummer for him.
Sick in bed
We finally bought a thermometer, and found a walk-in clinic and took him in. Ear infection. The first of his life. He'd never been sick enough to WANT to stay in bed, and that's precicely what he did. After the first day of anitibiotics, he was feeling much better, and our last day went a little better.

We missed out flight by 3 minutes on the way home, so our nightmare began finding flights and staying in hotels, and not sleeping much. But we made it home finally and we're glad to be done with vacations for awhile.
