Last week we went to Pasadena. Evan had a conference at which he represented his company. I was pretty anxious for this so-called "trip". P hadn't been sleeping well, and we knew his 2 little teeth were on their way in, so sleeping wasn't in the agenda. We have always had a hard time sleeping in the same room with P, so 5 nights with him was more than we could handle. As predicted...Monday he was running a fever - in 90 degree weather- and didn't sleep much.
I think he has a thing for texture. If it's too hard, he won't sleep on it. If it's too rough, or itchy, he won't sleep on it. We ended up folding up our comforter and putting that in the crib for him. Still he slept not.
Despite our nocturnal adventures, we did have a great time! Evan's friend from work, Brent came with his wife Linnae and new daughter, and Linnae and I always have a good time together exploring new places. (We were together in Boston for a week last summer). Just so happens, their room was 2 doors down from ours. We brought games to play after the kids went to bed, and had fun during the day pushing our strollers through downtown Pasadena, which by the way, I loved!
It was hot, sunny, and perfect! We had a rental car, and Brent and Linnae had brought their own down, so we drove to Venice beach, and the Pasadena Arboretum.
The best part of trips, eating out, and rationalizing every chance to spend a little money on the every now and again smoothie, cool drink, and the occational gourmet cupcake.
Evan's boss came in Friday and took us to Rodondo beach to eat at the Chart House (thank you "business dinners"), and while they had their business meeting, I walked with P up and down the hills of Manhattan beach. I love the sunset as it reflects off the moving tide.
We also drove up to Lancaster, CA to visit some friends, Roger and Sprice. They are expecting their first in Sept! We drove up to music road..you know the road in the Honda Civic comercial where they drove over the grids and it played William Tell Overture? It works. We did it twice cause we're nerdy like that.
The worst part about trips: flying with an INFANT. The best part about trips: FLYING with an infant.
Here are some pictures of our trip.
